EXCAVATION work at a Bradford quarry can continue until Summer 2021 - well beyond the original end date of this December.
Deep Lane Quarry in Clayton site has been used to produce hand riven paving and roofing stones for 80 years.
The current planning permission for the site allows that work to continue until December. After then owners Yorkshire Stone Quarries would have to restore the site within a year.

But earlier this year the company asked Bradford Council to alter this planning condition. They said poor weather in recent years, especially over summer months, had led to areas of the quarry flooding, delaying excavation work.
The site, near Scholemoor Cemetery, is almost exclusively worked by hand.
The application was for permission to continue work at the site by 18 months.
Planning officers have now approved that request, meaning quarrying can continue until June 2021.
The change means that the restoration work on the site will have to be carried out by June 2022.
