PLANS to flatten a former hospital site and build housing in its place have been approved.
Stoney Ridge Hospital, which used to provide day services for people with learning disabilities, was sold by Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust in 2017.
Last week Bradford Council approved plans by Leeds developers Eshton to demolish the hospital buildings on the site and build thirteen three and four bed houses.
Second attempt to restore and expand crumbling Green Belt building in Queensbury is refused
In their application the company warned that if the land was not developed the isolated site could become a hot spot for anti-social behaviour, attracting “fly tipping, vandals and groups of youths.”
The site is on Greenbelt between Heaton and Cottingley - although the planning application pointed out that the land has already been developed.
One of the conditions of the approval is that an electric vehicle charging point be included for each home, with another being that the developer improve vehicle and pedestrian access to the site.
