A YOUTH project aimed at building skills in young people has been creating a ‘bug hotel’.
Over the summer Pudsey In Bloom has been working with ‘Team Jackman’, a group of young people aged 16 to 17 as part of a National Citizens Service challenge. The project brings together young people from different backgrounds to develop their confidence and skills in connecting with others.
The youngsters were set the challenge of building a bug hotel to attract pollinators to a wild flower area in Pudsey’s park, and to design an accompanying poster highlighting the importance of pollinators. They also held a fundraising day in the town.
“They were a pleasure to work with and a shining example of how positive young people can be,” said Andrea Lightfoot from Pudsey in Bloom. “I’d love people to visit the park to see their display.”
