TWO of Bradford’s most iconic spots have been included in travel publication Lonely Planet’s Ultimate UK Travel List.
The definitive list of the nation’s top visitor attractions and must-see landmarks, with almost one in 12 on the list in Yorkshire.
From Bradford, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire is included in the list, along with the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth, which celebrates perhaps the best known literary siblings in the world.
The model village of Saltaire and iconic Salts Mill attract thousands of visitors every year, while Bronte fans flock to Haworth in their droves to see the landscape which inspired the sisters’ famous novels.
Other attractions included in the list which are also part of the wider Bradford district are the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Pennine Way walk, the annual Tour de Yorkshire cycle race which visits the district and wild swimming near Grassington.
Peter Dodd, commercial director of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “It’s fantastic that so many Yorkshire locations have been showcased in Lonely Planet’s Travelist. There’s so much on offer across all corners of the county: majestic heritage, vibrant cities and stunning countryside.”
