EIGHT fish and chip shops and restaurants in the Bradford area have been placed in this year’s list of the UK’s best chippies.
The popular restaurants have all been listed in the ‘Official Guide to the UK’s Quality Fish and Chip Shops, which recognises the nation’s finest purveyors of the classic dish.
Selected by the National Federation of Fish Friers, the list represents a Michelin Guide-style round up of Britain’s top chippies.
On the list are multi-award winning Towngate Fisheries in Idle, Parade Fisheries in Cottingley, the Bearded Sailor in Pudsey, Croft Street Fisheries in Farsley, the Wetherby Whaler in Guiseley and Pudsey, and Skipton’s Bizzie Lizzie’s in the High Street and Swadford Street.
Andrew Crook, president of the NFFF, said: “Next year fish and chips will be celebrating 160 years of being the UK national dish.
“Fish and chips remain a firm favourite with consumers, be it an easy meal on a Friday to a treat at the seaside, fish and chips are promoted by many independent operators who are continuously improving standards.”
