FINAL preparations are being made at Bradford Cathedral this week, ahead of a festival on Saturday to mark the holy building’s 100th anniversary.
The centenary celebrations will involve live music, arts and a variety of activities inside and outside the cathedral, along with an exhibition exploring the cathedral’s history.
The Dean of Bradford will kick things off by officially opening the festival at midday, which will be followed by six hours of festivities.
A best dressed competition is also being held on the day, with visitors urged to come in 1910s and 1920s period outfits to get into the centenary spirit.
The Battle of the Steeple will also be explored during the day, and the wool sacks used to protect the steeple during the battle will also be examined.
Jerry Lepine said: “This is the first festival Bradford Cathedral has run and its aim is to reach out to a wider audience.
“I am delighted that we’re offering such a broad range of events for all ages and we’d like to extend an invitation for you to come along.”
