COMMUNITY groups and organisations from across Bradford will come together this month to celebrate Refugee Week from June 15-22.

Exhibitions, film screenings, picnics, open mic nights, training workshops and parties will be taking place across Bradford, reflecting the contribution refugees make to our city and the UK. This extensive programme highlights and celebrates Bradford’s diversity and capacity for co-operation

The week will be formally launched by the new Lord Mayor, Councillor Doreen Lee at a celebration event in City Park on Monday, June 17.

Children from local schools will join in song with the Bradford Friendship Choir and a vibrant parade will be led by a fantastical taxi bike.

A series of events will take place throughout the week in libraries, schools and community centres and include the UK premier screening of a new film, Gaza, on Saturday 22nd June.

Refugee Week will culminate at the Get Together; a community festival in Peel Park, from 12-2pm on Saturday June 22, with art, music, sport and food for the whole family.
