A NEW Bradford business is helping people to bring a touch of nature into their homes.
Plant One on Me, on Upper Millergate, opens today and is the latest addition to the city's Sunbridgewells complex, offering a wide range of house plants and greenery to spruce any space up.
The force behind the new shop - a serene haven away from the hustle and bustle of modern-day life - is Ursula Sutcliffe.
She hails from Holme Wood and has spent the last five years travelling with her actor son Zak Sutcliffe, 18.
Ursula's idea for the business came as she entered what she describes the "second phase of her life" and began to look for a new venture.
And after travelling further afield for her own house plants - and wondering why Bradford didn't have something similar - she decided to take on the space.
"Predominantly we are going to be a house plant shop," Ursula, 42, said.
"I'm going for easy care house plants, air purifying house plants, house plants that are good looking, any social media trending house plant - that's what we are going to be stocking.
"But we are also doing tea, coffee, cake - I want you to come in and enjoy the shop, sit around it and enjoy it."
There'll be vinyl playing during the day on a 1960's vintage record player, plus workshops and parties where people will be able to make their own displays.
"We want it to be for everyone," Ursula said, highlighting the therapeutic nature of making indoor gardens.
The Royal Horticultural Society says studies have show house plants can have number of benefits, from improving mood and attention span to reducing stress levels, blood pressure and fatigue.
And the appeal has also worked its way onto social media platform Instagram.
"Social media is going crazy," Ursula said. "On Instagram, there is pages and pages and pages, just dedicated to house plants.
"There's a day dedicated to every house plant going."
Ursula puts it down to people living 'smaller' - with young people perhaps not being able to afford houses with a front and back garden, they can bring nature inside with house plants.
"One of the comments that has been made when people have popped in, they immediately said 'I don't feel like I'm in a city'.
"I'm so glad I've done it here, it's a dream - my own little slice of heaven."
