SIR - Mohammed Nisar Khan (41) and Tony Grant (39) have both been jailed for “life” (a joke term in itself) for the murder of Amriz Iqbal (T&A, May 2). Khan will have to serve a minimum of 26 years and Grant 17 years.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall called it a barbaric event, violent and brutal. It also transpired that Khan had 10 previous convictions for 51 offences and Grant had 12 previous convictions for 26 offences.
The big question here is why should these two unsavoury individuals ever be released back onto our streets at all? Khan could be out when he is 67 and Grant when he is 56.
This sort of murder really should result in life meaning life. Such people should have no place back within society at all.
