MORE THAN 200 people turned out for the Scholemoor Cemetery clean-up on Sunday, collecting more than 100 black bags and filling a skip.
Adil Shaan, of the Friends of the Deceased group, said it was one of the best turn-outs ever for the group's events.
He said: "Many groups joined in, from Bradford, Keighley and Leeds.
"There were a lot of youngsters. It is a good initiative, it brings together the community."
He said a lot of the volunteers came from local community group and mosques and they were rewarded for their efforts with an ice cream from a local company's van.
The volunteers emptied the bins, cleared up the litter in the cemetery and also gave it a good spruce-up with half attending to the Muslim section and the other half looking after the non-Muslim part.
They were also helped out by a local jet wash company who cleaned the footpaths and gullies.
The Friends of the Deceased holds a clean-up of the cemetery twice a year.
