A FRENCH artist has transformed some dreary fencing of a nursing home grounds to brighten the lives of residents while building work takes place.
Construction work is underway at Well Springs Care Home in Heaton to build an extension to the home to add a further 17 beds.
Boarding has had to be put up around the construction site to protect residents and keep the site secure, but when it was put up it was plain white, so the care home brought in French artist Jenny Tribillon to transform the boarding into a colourful landscape scene to brighten up the area.
Ben Redhead, from Well Springs, said: “The extension has just started but upon seeing the builders put up the site boarding which was stark white, we though that we simply could not have our current residents looking out on to something so unpleasant for the duration of the build which is nine months.
“We decided to invite Jenny in, equipped with her paint brushes to spruce up the place.
“She is amazing, and is well known around West Yorkshire for her decorative window art and has done Christmas window art for us before.
“Our residents now have a fantastic outlook when dining and relaxing compared to before.
“The feedback has been incredible and some residents are regularly heard to be telling people they are going for a walk in his garden and walking alongside it. We are thrilled with how it has turned out.”
The Outstanding-rated residential home currently has 48 residents and will create an additional 17 spaces when the extension is completed.
