THE annual Vaisakhi Parade took place in Bradford today, with Sikhs from the region celebrating the holy day in typical style.
The colourful marchers, some with traditional swords, took on their walking tour of Bradford's gurdwaras, beginning at the Ravidass one on Thornbury Street at around 10:30am.
The event is hugely popular in the region.
Despite being rooted in Sikh tradition, to celebrate the birth of Khalsa, the army of all initiated Sikhs, it is open to all, regardless of religion.
One of the most celebrated gurdwaras in Bradford is the Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara on Leeds Road.
The parade has previously started from there but this time it was along the route. It was also welcoming a special guest for 2019.
Mr Maan, from the Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara, said: "The Lord Mayor, Zafar Ali, was here from 10:30 until 11:15, which is when the parade reached us.
"Other people, like MPs, were there and we always want the parade to be open all other communities and religions.
"Most people join the parade at this gurdwara, although the turnout always depends on the weather."
There was plenty to keep those on the parade going during their long march.
Mr Maan explained: "We provide snacks like samosas, pakoras and onion bhajis along the route.
"The parade stopped off at around 1pm at the Ramgarhia Gurdwara on Bolton Road where there was some proper food and refreshments on offer."
