A COUNCILLOR said some people had recommended that parts of Penistone Hill currently accessible to vehicles should be closed off to try and stop fly-tippers.
Worth Valley ward councillor Chris Herd was speaking during the latest meeting of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council.
Penistone Hill, which twice had large numbers of tyres dumped on it late last year, has been targeted yet again much more recently. The contents of what appeared to be a house clearance were strewn across one part of the hill, though the waste was quickly removed by Bradford Council workers.
Cllr Herd said: "I've had a few people suggest blocking parts of the hill off with rocks, but then that would mean people wouldn't be able to park."
Cllr Tito Arana noted such a measure might "solve one problem but create another."
He added there was no easy answer, and warned that magnifying the issue of fly-tipping risked encouraging even more similar offences at the same location.
