A HAWORTH community project is appealing for help running a bar, after demand for its services increased.
The team in charge of Haworth Village Hall – which was rescued from sale by a group of volunteers several years ago – say bookings have increased dramatically over the last few months, leaving the volunteer-run bar under staffed.
The bar caters for parties, meetings and events throughout the year, and is vital in raising funds for the hall.
James Credland, who runs the bar, said plenty of people have the necessary skills and would be happy to lend a few evenings or days to help keep the Butt Lane building open.
He added: “Many people have worked in a bar at some point in their life and enjoy the banter and social atmosphere that goes with pulling a pint.
“We’re not asking people for a huge commitment, just a will to come in for a few evenings a year and help serve hall users.
"Our current team is too small and it means the same people have to give up weekend after weekend, which isn't fair as bookings increase.
"The funds from this bar are essential in keeping the building open. So pulling a pint every now and then directly supports this vital community facility and saves it from going on sale for development.”
