BRADFORD City are investigating racist remarks made by an account on Twitter towards Charlton Athletic forward Lyle Taylor.

The club released a statement this morning concerning the comments which were made following the Bantams' 1-0 loss to the London side.

It states: "City officials are working with the Police and Charlton Athletic to identify the person responsible and ensure appropriate action is taken against them.

"If you have any information which could assist the club’s investigation, please get in touch via e-mail."

An account named "Bantams Real Talk" sent several tweets to the 29-year-old striker using banana emojis.

The Twitter account, which joined the social media platform in 2015, has since been deactivated.

Taylor called the user out over Twitter, using a screenshot of some of the abuse sent.

He said: "Look at this... Yet another example of ignorant, small minded racism. Pathetic."



Many have come out in support of Taylor since the offensive tweets were made in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A number of City supporters have also been in touch with the Charlton player to distance themselves from the sender of the tweets.

Taylor followed up his initial post with another late yesterday evening, thanking people for their support.

It said: "The support from everybody has been overwhelming today. The blanket condemnation of 1 idiots actions has highlighted the people's true feelings on this matter. Thank you for all the messages too, it means the world."
