THE University of Bradford has appointed a new Vice-Chancellor - who will be the first woman to hold the role in the institution’s history.
Professor Shirley Congdon, who currently serves as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) will take on the role this summer.
She takes over from current Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Cantor, who will step down after more than five years.
The first female to take the role, and is only the eighth person to fill the role since the University was founded in 1966.
An expert in the field of health and social care, Prof Congdon has worked in higher education for more than 22 years, including time in a number of senior leadership roles.
The University said: “Prof Congdon is passionate about the student experience and committed to creating excellence in learning and teaching.”
