A CARE home in the district welcomed two rather unusual visitors.
Therapy alpacas Sovereign and Pumpkin called at Summerfield, in Silsden.
Residents had the chance to stroke and feed the duo, from Oxenhope-based Thornwood Alpacas.
“The alpacas wandered around the home and brought lots of smiles to our residents’ faces,” said Louise Pennington, activity co-ordinator at Summerfield.
“It was great fun.
“We also learned about how the alpacas live and what they eat, which was very interesting.”
The visit was funded with money raised by a residents’ sponsored pedal
Nearly 20 people – with an average age of 93 – took part in the event.
The aim was to keep pedalling, to music, for an hour.
They used an exercise bike, or stationary or hand pedals.
Thornwood Alpacas also offers people the chance to take part in a relaxing, alpaca paced, walk through the Bronte countryside, involving a steady journey through the fields up to the Haworth moorland.
