RESIDENTS at Bupa Care Home Crossley House, on Thornton Road in Bradford had an adorable premature Easter surprise this week when a clutch of eggs, which had been incubating for 10 days, arrived at the home.
The special delivery, which was provided by Incredible Eggs, came on Monday 25th February – and by the very next day the first chick had hatched. Since then, a further five bundles of joy have arrived, and the rest are expected in the next few days.
Pet therapy is used throughout Bupa care homes, and these eggs-tra special guests have caused excitement amongst the home’s residents.
Residents have enjoyed getting to know the little ones, and have even given them names – Uno, Sweetie Pie, Fluffy, Charlie, Robin and Lucky.
Charlie Kenny, Home Manager at Crossley House said: “This has been a fantastic experience. The residents have loved interacting with the little chicks; this is definitely something we will look to do again next year.”
Bupa Crossley House is purpose-built and welcomes anyone in need of residential care, including those living with dementia, Huntington’s or Parkinson’s. Residents are offered a full programme of regular and seasonal activities, as well as 24-hour access to highly trained medical and care staff.
