EXTRAORDINARY pictures show the damage caused to a parked van and house in Sunningdale, Allerton, after a car ploughed into them.
The incident occurred just before 9am and Anna Bak, whose van was hit before the car collided with the house, said a neighbour had called the fire brigade, who were on the scene straightaway.
The police were also called immediately and an arrest has been made.
The house that was struck belonged to Wasim Hashmi, 43, and he spoke of the terror that his wife and four-year-old daughter endured.
He said: "I was on the school run when my wife rang, telling me to come home straightaway as there was an emergency.
"She and my daughter were downstairs at the time and they were terrified and shaken, we all were."
Explaining how the incident occurred, he said: "The car has gone through our neighbour's fence, then ours and along with hitting the van, that's caused it to flip over.
"My wife heard a big bang and saw smoke and she realised the car had hit the house between the ground floor and the first floor.
"If it had hit the house a foot further down, and gone through the the downstairs window where my wife and daughter were, it could have been so much worse.
Tahir Khan, 46, lives next door but one to Mr Hashmi's property, and he said: "It's absolutely crazy and looking at the pictures, I can't believe the driver has been able to just casually walk off from the incident.
"It's quite lucky that the van was in the garden because it took a lot of the impact."
A spokesperson for Fairweather Green fire station said: "We attended a two car road traffic collision at around 9am and we were there for about two hours.
"The car has lost control and hit the van which caused it to veer into the house.
"We called out structural engineers because we had to make sure the property that was hit was was safe for the family to return to.
"By the time we arrived, the driver of the car had left the scene."
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "We were called at 8:56am to a damage-only road traffic collision.
"Following police enquiries, a man has been arrested and taken to hospital."
