COUNCILLORS have approved plans to reduce the speed limit on a stretch of a major Bradford road from 40mph to 30mph.
Bradford Council’s Bradford West Area Committee voted to approve the new speed limit on a stretch of Thornton Road, between Thornton and Keelham, at a meeting on Wednesday night.
The works will also include a speed activated warning sign.
The reduced limit will be in place from near Woodsley Fold to just past Myers Building Supplies.
Roads added to proposed roll out of 20mph zones
Two people had objected to the proposals, with one claiming the reduced limit would be ignored by careless drivers and only impact law abiding drivers.
But highways officers had urged the committee to back the plans, saying the changes would improve road safety on the road.
Neither of the objectors attended Wednesday’s meeting, and so Councillors voted it through without debate.
