BRADFORD Literature Festival has started an exciting new competition for sixth-form students in the district.
The competition, being run in association with Provident Financial Group, challenges teams of three or four Year 12 students to pitch an idea for an event to be held as part of next year’s Bradford Literature Festival Public Programme.
Six winning teams will be selected to take part in a six-week event development programme where the students will learn skills ranging from idea development and presentation to financial literacy, budget management, marketing and promotion.
The competition will culminate at the Bradford Literature Festival 2019, which takes place from June 28 to July 7 next year, where the students will see their winning events brought to life, as they work with the festival’s professional team to manage the events themselves.
Winning students will also be given a free festival pass each for the whole event, giving them free access to all events taking place.
Last year’s event featured talks from a number of prominent authors and figures, including Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, rapper and poet Akala, boxer Frank Bruno and respected investigative journalist David Conn.
The deadline for idea submissions is Friday, November 30, and for more details and a submission form, visit bradfordlitfest.co.uk/takeover-challenge
