A video showing a Bradford pub under siege from firework-toting yobs has emerged amid reports of an arduous Bonfire Night shift for emergency services.
The video, shot on Carlisle Road, shows missiles being launched through the windows of the Carlisle Hotel before fireworks, placed in a traffic island in the middle of the road, shoot one after the other into the sky.
Mohammed Waheed, who runs Ginos Pizza & Grill opposite the pub, slammed what happened and said he was disgusted.
Another business owner said: “I think these people need to be picked up. They are not strangers, they need to be dealt with. The parents should be reeled into this - they should not just let it happen.”
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended almost 400 emergency calls over the course of the evening, with a “small number” of attacks on crews.
Assistant Chief Constable Tim Kingsman, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “The Bonfire Night period is always a busy time for the police and other emergency services and this year was no exception. Unfortunately, there were some who again used Bonfire Night as a backdrop for anti-social behaviour. It cannot be understated that fireworks can be a highly dangerous weapon when directed at people, vehicles and properties.”
