INFORMATION has been given to Bradford Council to help it solve the mystery of who carried out unauthorised re-surfacing work in Laycock.
As reported in the Keighley News in September, the laying down of this fresh asphalt sparked bafflement and anger when it was first discovered at the layby in Laycock Lane, near the junction with Hill Clough.
The "unnecessary" work wrecked a community enhancement project carried out by Laycock school children, which was supported by Keighley Town Council, local residents, a professional gardener and a community development worker.
Flowers planted by the pupils, who also cut back undergrowth to make a bench accessible again, were completely covered over by the asphalt.
After the damage to the children's planting was revealed, Bradford Council confirmed it had not approved the resurfacing and was trying to find out who did it.
A spokesman for the council has now confirmed: “A member of the public has come forward with some additional information, and we are conducting an investigation to see if we can find out who is responsible.”
