TWO people were taken to hospital because of a kitchen fire last night.

A woman and child suffered from smoke inhalation in the incident at a house in Thornhill Road, Steeton.

The fire was confined to the kitchen and had been put out by a neighbour by the time fire crews arrived.

A working smoke alarm alerted the householders.

A cat that was in the kitchen was given oxygen by firefighters and taken to a vet.

Crews from Keighley and Silsden attended.
