UNION J will no longer be one of the star turns switching on the lights at The Broadway Shopping Centre next month.

The band were due to join fellow X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson for the festive launch on Saturday, November 10.

But because Josh Cuthbert left the three-piece last week, the Broadway have announced that the show will go on without them.

Cuthbert left the band after seven years reportedly saying he wanted to explore other opportunities in the entertainment business.

Ian Ward, general manager of The Broadway, said: "We are aware that Union J, who were due to perform at The Broadway’s Festive Launch on November 7, have announced they have split. We will be issuing a further statement on this in due course.”

The Broadway says it has still a brilliant festive night planned with performances from Ferguson and local singing sensation Thomas Lillywhite plus appearances from Ex-Love Islander Wes Nelson. Bradford Brass will also be spreading festive cheer.

From 2pm visitors will be able to watch the Festive Pitch Battle in partnership with Pulse 1, which will see six local school choirs fight it out in a one-off singing competition to win a £1,000 cash prize.

Musical performances will follow at 4.30pm, with the Christmas light display being switched on at 6.30pm.

A Christmas Craft Market and outdoor Christmas Bar will also open on the day for locals looking to get into the festive spirit, with the City of Bradford Brass Band performing seasonal classics from noon.

Visitors will be able to have a go on funfair rides, as well as getting the chance to meet their favourite Christmas characters – including Santa Claus.
