STAFF from Keighley-based Keybury Fire and Security have completed their toughest annual challenge yet to raise money for charity.

They tackled several gruelling activities during the summer which together coined in £3,300 for the company’s main beneficiary, Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands.

The total is the highest since Keybury began its fundraising challenges six years ago, with an unprecedented number of employees from across all departments taking part.

First up this summer was an energy-sapping Yorkshire Three Peaks trek, encompassing the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Then the team participated in the Manorlands PaintRush at Marley, which saw entrants follow a five-kilometre course while being bombarded with paint.

Next was the Tough Mudder, at Broughton Hall near Skipton.

And completing the series was the Starlight Hike, in September, a 10km walk around the Worth Valley.

Keybury, whose head office is at Worth Enterprise Park, has now raised over £13,000 since its challenges began.

Philip Marsh, the company’s service division director, said: “At Keybury it’s our business to provide peace of mind to the community and each year we take this an extra step further with our charity challenge, supporting both national and local charities – primarily Manorlands.

“We’ve had another fantastic result. Whilst everyone at Keybury deserves full credit, thanks must go to customers, relatives and friends of staff who have once again dug deep to support the cause.”

The firm was thanked by Manorlands senior fundraiser, Andrew Wood. He said: “We have seen the Keybury team members working hard throughout the year to complete this series of tough events and we’re absolutely delighted that they have raised more funds this year than ever before.”
