ACTION could be taken against the company whose vehicle spilled offal along a main road into Keighley on October 15.

Bradford Council is currently investigating how a trail of animal waste – up to 100 metres long according to one bystander – came to spill onto South Street/Bridge Street.

A council spokesman said: “The offal spillage is currently being investigated by Environmental Health Services. As the investigation is still on-going we cannot release further details at this time.

“If it is appropriate, the council will take enforcement action against the offenders in accordance with its strict enforcement policy for spillages of this nature.”

The council did not reveal which company was responsible for the incident.

The wagon, which itself became covered in offal, stopped following the afternoon incident near the junction with Aireworth Street by the Percy Vere pub.

At the time, one onlooker said it was the “biggest lot” he’d ever seen, adding: “Cars are having to go around it, there’s people running away from it. It absolutely reeks.”

Another passer-by said: “It was most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. There were guts hanging off the wagon, which had parked up.”
