A BRADFORD doctor who is currently developing a make-up product she says will protect people from acid attacks has moved to reassure people that it will not be tested on animals.

Animal rights organisation PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) raised fears the Acarrier product would be tested on animals and urged its creator, Dr Almas Ahmed, to find an alternative method.

Dr Ahmed, 32, from Manningham, said: “Acarrier is cruelty-free, we have not tested on animals and we are passionate about protecting animals and the environment.”

She added that she had previously quit a job and was left without work because the company she worked for tested on animals.

Setting the record straight, she said: “We are absolutely not testing on animals.

“I completely support PETA.”

She said she wants to keep the product cruelty-free and would like to collaborate with the organisation.

Dr Ahmed was inspired to create the product after being inspired by the plight of acid attack survivor and campaigner Katie Piper.

She says the product, which looks and feels and works like regular make-up has a compound in it which means anything caustic cannot react with it.
