The Great British Bake-Off might be nearly over – but two mental health groups are holding their own cake contest in Bradford.
And former GBBO contestant Sandy Docherty, who works in the district, has agreed to act a chief taster and judge for the event this Friday.
The competition will raise funds for Mind in Bradford and Scar Cover Up Freedom Fund (Scuff). All cake-makers are invited to submit their favourite bake, with the entry fee £2.50.
Scuff has been set up by Jessica King, of Bradford, after her experience of getting tattoos to cover her self-harm scars.
Judging will be held at the mental health charity’s base in Kenburgh House at 28 Manor Row, Bradford, at 3pm and cake-lovers are invited to drop in to try a slice.
Admission, from 2.30pm and open to over-18s only, will cost £3 which will include a raffle ticket, drink and slice of cake.
Cakes can be dropped off on the day and entrants can fill in their form then.
