A HEROIC Autobot will help an opticians' shop celebrate their relocation to The Broadway Shopping Centre.

Specsavers has moved from Darley Street to a new unit on Broadway, under the Light cinema, and will host a weekend of events to mark the move.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the store has planned activities for all ages.

Festivities on Saturday include a celebrity guest in the form of a Bumblebee Transformer robot – which will be in store from 11:30am until 2:30pm. The First Love Bradford University Dance Troup will also be in attendance, as well as a balloon modeller and stilt walker for children to enjoy. Face painting and hair braiding will also be available on the day, as well as free ice cream from a vintage style bicycle stand.

On Sunday, guests can listen to performances from vocal group Christopher and the Robins, as well as meet the Bradford Disability football team. Buffet style snacks will be available for the public.

A colouring competition is also taking place over the weekend.

Pete Rooke, store director at Specsavers in Bradford, says: ‘We’ve been looking forward to relocating to The Broadway for a number of months, so it’s exciting that the time has finally come and that we’re open to the public.

‘We’ve really made an effort to make this weekend a real extravaganza, so we hope that the local community come along and enjoy the weekend full of extra special entertainment."

General Manager at The Broadway Bradford, Ian Ward, says: "We are very excited to welcome Specsavers optical and audiology services to The Broadway. It’s been a fantastic year for us welcoming new retailers and continuing to be a key destination for the city’s shoppers."
