FIRE crews were called to a house in Wibsey this morning after reports of a house fire.

Crews from Odsal and Fairweather Green were called to the house in Torre Road, where they found a shed and fencing on fire, at 12.40am.

The fire had started to spread towards the house, but the firefighters managed to stop it before it could reach the property.

A spokesperson for Odsal fire station said the windows on the ground and first floor had started melting due to the heat.

He said: "The frames had melted, and they were going to crack imminently, letting the fire spread inside.

"Two pumps were called, Fairweather Green and us, and we were there for two hours tackling the fire.

"There was a father and his two daughters inside the house, but they had been alerted by a passer-by and managed to get out before we arrived."
