A HOMELESSNESS awareness event is to be hosted at Bradford City’s stadium next month.

The club and homeless charity, Centrepoint, are inviting people to take part in the “Sleep Out Bradford” at Valley Parade on Thursday, November 22.

The event, taking place at the stadium for the second time, aims to give an insight into the struggles of sleeping rough and helps raise funds for charity.

Centrepoint supports 150 homeless young people aged 16-25 in Bradford every single day by providing accommodation and teaching life skills.

Registration for the event costs £20 with a fundraising target of £200.

All funds raised at the event will be used to introduce the Centrepoint Sport Training Centre Programme in Bradford, which uses street football to improve emotional wellbeing.

Chloe Sykes, Centrepoint’s Senior Fundraising Officer, said: “It would be impossible for us to replicate the reality of homelessness but we hope that those taking part in Sleep Out will broaden their understanding of the challenges involved such as sleeping on the floor, facing the cold and getting through the next day with very little sleep.

“While the event only offers a glimpse in to the struggles of being homeless, the money raised will have a huge impact on those who unfortunately find homelessness as their reality.”

The event takes place at the Northern Commercials Stadium on Thursday November 22 – from 7.30pm.
