City's youth team went down 1-0 to Hartlepool in their first away game of the season.

Hartlepool's 4-3-3 system caused problems in the first half hour, forcing the visitors into a reshuffle with Leon Osborne moving from a wide-left role and Luke Dean dropping into midfield.

City improved after the break but goalkeeper Matthew Convey was called on a number of times to keep them in contention.

Chances for City were limited, with Osborne coming closest to equalising when his well-stuck volley was saved by Hartlepool keeper Calum Proudlock after previously spilling Liam Bartle's cross.

City Youth: Convey, Griffiths, Bartle, Sharry, Bowes, Smith, Bleau (Banks), Horne, Sheridan (Clarke), Dean (Newton), Osborne. Sub (not used): O'Hara.
