A fifth man has been arrested by police investigating the brutal murder of Bradford businessman Teddy Simpson.

He was held for questioning by murder squad detectives on Sunday night and remained in custody yesterday.

Four men arrested on Friday night have all now been released. One was freed without charge and the other three were bailed pending further inquiries.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information about the death of Mr Simpson, 56, who had four children, seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was severely beaten after a group of men burst into his detached home in Sticker Lane, Laisterdyke, last Wednesday evening.

It is then believed he was bundled into a vehicle before his body was dumped 12 hours later in a secluded lane leading to the former Beechwood nursing home, off Huddersfield Toad, Lower Wyke.

He had been subjected to a "vicious and brutal" assault and died of multiple injuries.

Mr Simpson ran two businesses, in stone and car sales, from premises adjoining his home.

The murder investigation is being led by Detective Superintendent Paul Taylor, of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
