Three men from the Bradford area were today named as among four killed in a helicopter crash while travelling to a pheasant shoot in Scotland.

Tim Newburn, 39, of Brighouse, Andy Patrick, 37, of Askwith, near Otley, and Gary Priestley, 39, of Hipperholme, near Halifax, died alongside Mr Patrick's father Peter Patrick, 68, of Arkholme, near Carnforth, Lancashire.

The Robinson R44 aircraft set off from Carnforth at about 7pm on Friday en route to Lochmaben, near Lockerbie. It was reported missing later that night.

A farmer discovered the wreckage in a field near Gatebeck, Kendal, shortly before midday on Saturday.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "South Cumbria coroner Ian Smith will hold inquests later this week.

"The wreckage of the Robinson R44 aircraft was removed yesterday and taken to Farnborough in Hampshire, where air accident investigators will continue their inquiries.

"The families of the crash victims are being supported by specialist family liaison officers from Cumbria Police."
