Top jazz singer Peter Grant will be regaling Ilkley festival goers with songs from his top ten album.

The young jazz singer has been practising his art since he was six and was playing gigs from the tender age of 13.

Peter's laid back repertoire includes modern classics such as Barry White's My First, My Last, My Everything and Scott Walker's Joanna alongside old jazz favourites Lady is a Tramp and Summertime.

His top ten debut album New Vintage sold over 100,000 copies and his new album, simply titled Peter Grant, is released on September 10.

He will be performing at Spence's Garden in Ilkley on Friday, August 27 And you don't have to wait until then to hear great music. This weekend will see the Fifth Ilkley Festival start in fine style with a rock 'n' roll extravaganza to get the festival jumping.

Rock Along The Grove, a lively blend of 1950s and 60s rock n' roll and jive dancing will take place on Saturday afternoon. The event is scheduled to be outdoors at The Grove but depending on the weather it might be relocated indoors.

From 3.30pm, Ilkley DJs the Jolly Jivers will compere the event, local jive dancers will perform in colourful clothes of the era.

Also performing will be Mark Keeley and Good Rockin' Tonight and the Jiver Romeros, a five piece rock n' roll swing band.

The first band is scheduled to take the stage at 5pm and the party is expected to go on until 10pm. Tickets cost £8 and are available from Ilkley Tourist Information Centre or from the Jolly Cobbler, in the central car park.
