The Yorkshire Dales National Park is the fifth most popular national park in the country when it comes to visitor choice, according to a new survey.
Of the 1,000 adults from across the UK who took part in the NOP poll, 49 per cent said they had visited the Yorkshire Dales (compared with 44 per cent in a similar survey in 2001).
The most visited national park was the Lake District, which 70 per cent of respondents said they had visited.
The survey to gauge awareness of national parks was commissioned by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) on behalf of all English and Welsh national park authorities.
