A Bradford theatre has said it has “no record” of comedian Ed Byrne performing the life-saving Heimlich manoeuvre on an audience member.
A spokesman for the Alhambra said it has “no record that anything like this occurred” at Ed Byrne’s show on December 9, 2017.
The Irish comedian’s management have also said the incident did not happen.
It had been reported in a national newspaper that, after seeing a member of the audience in distress while choking on food, Ed Byrne leapt from the stage and performed the lifesaving technique on her during his set, but Mr Byrne’s management has refuted this.
The national article reported that Mr Byrne had "saved a fan's life."
Mr Byrne addressed the issue in a tweet:
This is a great story, only partially ruined by the fact that it’s completely untrue. https://t.co/hagRRyNmZx
