THERE was a steady stream of visitors to the Apple Day event at Bowling Park Community Orchard this afternoon, where the groups Bradford YMCA and Bradford Environmental Education Service (BEES) who have developed the orchard, were celebrating the 10th year of harvesting.
Julia Pearson, of Bradford YMCA said the orchard was planted in 2003 with 40 trees of varying varieties, some old English ones, and they began to pick them in 2007. Around 650 kilos have been picked this year.
Sunday’s event was to involve people to learn about the different apples as well as offering apple cakes and chutneys for sale.
