US model Gigi Hadid has told how her singer boyfriend, Bradford-born Zayn Malik, has been helping her blend into British life, with tips on how to cook a Sunday roast and perfect her Yorkshire accent.
The star shared details of her English crash-course as she joined designer Tommy Hilfiger on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast show with Nick Grimshaw on Tuesday.
She said that she had watched the entire run of teen drama Skins to help her pick up a British accent, helped by the One Direction star's own northern heritage.
The 22-year-old admitted that she often mimics the 24-year-old's Yorkshire twang - but the result often makes him think she is mocking him.
Hadid said she had been seeing more success mastering traditional British cooking, but confessed that her attempts at concocting a full roast will "never be able to compete" with Malik's mother's.
She told the show: "Zayn has helped me a lot with my British food love and Indian food love and his mum's an amazing cook.
"I'm trying to learn everything as I go and make a little cookbook, writing it all down instead of annoying his mum by texting her every week."
The interview was aired hours before Hadid exhibits her new fashion line with Hilfiger at London Fashion Week.
The acclaimed designer, 66, described Hadid as the "rock star" of the company and told how she "stood out head and shoulders above everyone else" when she first took to the catwalk for the label.
Now a model and designer, Hadid credited her model mother for giving her the best words of advice to further her career.
She said: "She told me to be the nicest person people work with because there will always be someone nicer and prettier than you, waiting to come along next."
