THE ADDAMS FAMILY THE MUSICAL COMEDY

ALHAMBRA THEATRE

BRADFORD was definitely hit with something “mysterious and spooky” last night, with the opening of The Addams Family at the Bradford Alhambra.

From the opening theme tune (with its well-known finger clicks), through to the spectacular finale, the cast of the musical were a delight to watch, and as “creepy and kooky” as they could be.

This comedy musical follows Wednesday Addams, the princess of darkness, as she attempts to reveal a hidden secret that she is engaged to a “normal” boy called Lucas.

As her father, Gomez, learns of his daughters intentions, he struggles to keep the secret from his beloved wife, Morticia.

However everything changes on the fateful night the family host a dinner party, and get embroiled in Morticia’s choice of after dinner entertainment called “The Game”.

The perfectly cast Samantha Womack as Morticia and Cameron Blakely as Gomez, draw the audience fully into the world of darkness, lifted by comedy highlights from Les Dennis as Uncle Fester and the amusing Dickon Gough as Lurch.

With an array of fantastically written songs, and the shear brilliance of the set design, you’ll definitely be immersed in the Addams family museum.

Hats off to the slick performance skills of the extremely haunting cast and ensemble who managed to bring this classic TV comedy to life on stage.
