A 20-YEAR-OLD man who burgled his next-door neighbour has been given a suspended sentence.
Bradford Crown Court heard that Tauqeer Hussain and two other men broke into his neighbour's home in Heidelberg Road, Manningham, Bradford, while she was on holiday.
The court heard the back door was forced, causing £400 damage, and property valued at £1,200 stolen.
Prosecutor Martin Robertshaw said it was a "mean" offence.
A probation officer told the court that at the time of the offence Hussain was drinking heavily and smoking cannabis. But he was now working at a takeaway and was a polite and respectful young man.
Hussain was sentenced to ten months custody suspended for 12 months, with 150 hours unpaid community work and a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
