A TEENAGER stabbed a doorman near his eye with a combat knife after being refused entry to a Bradford city centre night club, a court heard.
Kalem Wilson and two other men argued with door staff at the Krizma club in Sackville Street, in the early hours of last Christmas Day, and were asked to leave, Bradford Crown Court was told.
Prosecutor Tim Capstick said the group of men left, but returned soon after, armed with knives, and confronted the door staff.
One of the doormen, Andrew Clement, fell to the ground and was approached by the defendant as he tried to get up.
Mr Capstick said Wilson stabbed or jabbed at Mr Clement's face to the corner of his left eye, causing a one centimetre laceration to the bone and leaving the complainant with a skin flap. He had the wound glued at hospital and had made a good recovery.
The prosecutor said the knives were obtained from a vehicle parked nearby.
Wilson was arrested at the scene and made no comment to police.
Mr Capstick said it was a pre-meditated attack.
Wilson, now 20 but who was 19 at the time of the offence, of Birch Lane, West Bowling, Bradford, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and having an offensive weapon in a public place.
His solicitor advocate, Andrew Walker, said that drink had played a part in the offence. His client's grandfather had died.
Mr Walker said: "Unfortunately he was out and about with others on this night, was not in the best frame of mind and had consumed alcohol, which he would not usually do.
"The knife was handed to him and foolishly he took hold of it. He was using it to fend off, it wasn't a deliberate stab."
Mr Walker said CCTV showed his client was being kicked by the complainant while he was being restrained on the floor.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC said the weapons involved were "formidable combat knives" and there could have been "an extremely grave outcome".
The judge added: "What is truly alarming is that he has gone out with others with vicious looking combat knives which are for one purpose only. These are lethal weapons."
Judge Durham Hall said there needed to be a full probation report on Wilson before he sentenced him.
The defendant was remanded in custody until July 18.
