A PROMINENT former Conservative cabinet minister was in Bradford today to lend his support to the party’s candidates in Bradford South, East, and West.
Michael Gove served as Secretary of State for Education from 2010 to 2014 and Secretary of State for Justice from 2015 to 2016, and was also one of the leaders of the ‘Vote Leave’ campaign in last year’s EU referendum.
He delivered a speech to business leaders and Conservative activists at Bradford City’s Valley Parade Stadium this morning, outlining how Brexit would work for the city.
He also answered questions about education, the NHS and social care, and the economy, standing alongside Mark Trafford, the party’s candidate for Bradford East, and George Grant, who is standing in Bradford West.
Mr Gove said there was a “readiness and appetite for change” for an increased Tory vote across the three Bradford seats, saying next week’s election was a “chance to make Bradford great again.”
He said: “The choice for Bradford is one of change and opportunity under the Conservatives, or stagnation and being pushed to the margins under Labour.”
