THE Tories have sent another high-profile politician to Bradford South, this time attempting to win over local businesses.
Government chief whip Gavin Williamson visited small independent businesses in Great Horton with local Conservative candidate Tanya Graham.
Mr Williamson, a graduate of Bradford University, said: “I can remember campaigning with the local Conservatives and holding committee meetings in the Great Horton Conservative Club. I am delighted to be back.”
The pair dropped into Super Pound Store and Ali Baba Carpets, as well as the Mumtaz restaurant on Great Horton Road. Mrs Graham said it had been a pleasure to speak to business owners with Mr Williamson.
She said: “Local independent businesses represent the beating heart of the high street.”
Labour has held the Bradford South seat since 1945 but the Tories are campaigning hard there this year, buoyed by their party’s strong performance in the polls and a landslide victory in the Queensbury by-election.
