THE Yorkshire Party has unveiled its manifesto in Wakefield.
The party, which is standing candidates in Pudsey and Skipton and Ripon, has called for the creation of a Yorkshire Parliament to secure devolved powers from Westminster, but also pledges to fight development on the green belt and for improvements in education.
Leader Stewart Arnold said: “It won’t come as a surprise that the setting up of a Yorkshire parliament is at the centre of our manifesto. We think this would invigorate the often stale, tribal politics we have in Yorkshire and at the same time allow people to set their own priorities and help unleash the huge potential we have in the county.
“Brexit was a defining moment in our politics but there are so many other important issues in Yorkshire today - education, health and social care, our crumbling infrastructure and our relationship with the rest of the UK. Our manifesto addresses all of those key issues, not from an ideological point of view, but in terms of what is best for Yorkshire.”
