A SOFTWARE developer from Apperley Bridge has created a new one-man political party for Bradford.
Paul Parkins has called his party Better for Bradford and is positioning himself as an alternative to the Westminster parties.
He said he was his party’s only candidate and was effectively using its name as a slogan, but said the ‘Better for...’ brand could serve as a model for other candidates to use in other cities in future.
Mr Parkins, who runs his own business, said he had been inspired to enter politics by the EU referendum and wanted Bradford to have a voice as the country negotiated Brexit.
He said: “I personally voted Remain but at the same time, I totally accept the country’s decision and I just think we need to get on with it.”
He said his other priorities were supporting businesses, growing the local economy, alleviating poverty and improving healthcare, such as access to dentistry.
