Schools hailed as outstanding by Govern-ment inspectors will be honoured at a special event on Monday.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Robin Owens, is hosting a civic reception to celebrate this achievement - the highest praise a school can receive from schools' watchdog Ofsted.

The event follows Coun Owens paying a visit to most of the outstanding schools over the last few weeks.

Head teachers, staff and governors at each school have been invited to a reception at Bradford City Hall.

The Lord Mayor said: "More and more schools across the district are being identified as outstanding which shows what excellent progress is being made in local education. It is also fantastic to see that this includes schools in the heart of the district. I am immensely proud to host an event that pays tribute to all those involved in helping our children to strive for success."

The 14 outstanding schools invited to the event are: Netherlands Avenue & Community Nursery, Low Moor; Killinghall Primary School, Eccleshill; St Anthony's Catholic Primary School, Clayton; Myrtle Park Primary School, Bingley; Oakworth Primary School; Eldwick Primary School; Canterbury Nursery School and Centre for Children and Families, Little Horton; Lilycroft Nursery, Manningham; and Newby Primary School, West Bowling; the Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Ilkley; All Saints' CE Primary School, Ilkley; Carlton Bolling College, Undercliffe; Long Lee Primary School, Keighley; and Copthorne Primary School, Great Horton.

John Gaskin, managing director of Education Bradford, the private company that runs Badford's schools, said: "I am delighted these schools are being recognised by the Lord Mayor for their outstanding Ofsted reports."
