Preparations for the final round of Britain in Bloom judging are taking shape in Baildon with a new sign to encourage recycling.

The four-foot square notice has been incorporated on to the parking ticket machine in the bottom car park outside Ian Clough Hall and reads Baildon In Bloom Supports Recycling.

Ron Bairstow, of the Baildon In Bloom committee, said: "The aim is to get the public to pick up their litter to help the bid. Feedback from residents has been very supportive and we are pleased to bring the pride back to Baildon."

Before the judges return on Wednesday, the group have organised an open day for members of the public in St John's Church Hall.

Renee Lancaster will open the event at 2pm and tea and strawberry scones will be served.

There will also be a gardening tombola, a raffle to win a family ticket to The Great Yorkshire Show and guided tours of nearby garden attractions.
