PLANS to build a development of shops and apartments on a former pub site have been quashed by planning officers.
Bradford Council refused Ammar Ali’s planning application for two shops and six apartments on the junction of Leeds Road and Gain Lane, the former home of the Junction pub (pictured).
Plans for two shops on the site were approved in 2013, but the additional six apartments, to be built above the shops, were a step too far for planners.
Although the plans would include 14 parking spaces, planners said a development of this type would require 25 spaces.
Refusing the application, officers said: “It is likely that the insufficient parking provision will result in the potential for vehicles to parking within the servicing and turning areas and parking on the highway close to the busy signalised junction.”
